19 years of age and I vaguely remember the changes of Singapore's public transport system.
How about you?
Google some pictures and here's what I got!
Buses in the olden days
Improvement in design and aesthetics but still non air-condition
Now you get the fully air-conditioned bus with superb design & aesthetics,
always improving to suit the commuter(s) needs.
And of course, Mass Rapid Transport (MRT).
I always remembered it being the same, hmm.
I came across this other blog post. It is talks about the look of buses in the past.
Very amazed by it because I never knew about all that.
Did you?

Moving on, have you heard about 'We Keep Your World Moving'?
Possibly by LTA.
Recently, they created an advertising campaign - 'Make It Right For A Better Ride!'
Among all the talented people who wrote poems related to rides,
I chose this written by a young boy, Oscar Tee, aged 8.
Because it relates to me whenever I take a bus during peak periods.
As a commuter, we all understand and face the issues of taking a public transport during peak periods right?!
It's so FRUSTRATING when you're in a hurry
but people just wouldn't move in.
I REALLY DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY!
There's nothing wrong with moving to the rear.
It actually benefits other commuters who need the ride as well.
Even if you're not in a rush, it just sad to see your fellow countrymen being so selfish
and disregard values such as care, consideration, love..
Always put yourselves in other people's shoe.
And treat people how you would like to be treated.
Singaporeans are just Singaporeans.
It's in our culture and may be difficult to change.
But we can always start now.
" Action speaks louder than words "
Everyone would enjoy their ride if other commuters are gracious and considerate:
* Offer your seat to elderly/pregnant ladies/physically challenged/parents with children/young children, or anyone who needs it more than you do.
You may be a tired student who had a long day/carrying loads of books, but I'm sorry to tell you that they've less energy/strength to get squash in the crowd.
* Move into the rear of buses/trains to give space to incoming commuters.
* Tell others to move if they don't.
